Hair is one of the important parts of our body. It not only adds aesthetics to our looks but also protect our skin. However many people unknowingly do things that harms there hair health. This cause hair problems like hairfall, premature greying, dandruff etc.

Hair fall and hair thinning is one of the burning problem of today's life. Most of men and women go through this type of problem. About 25% of men face this problem before age of 21 and about 45% of women face it sometime in their lifetime. Genetics play an important role in it which is not in our control. So let's focus on something that is in our control.

Stress is very much common in today's modern life. It is directly effect our hair health. Work stress, study stress, relationship stress, depression etc. can damage your hair. Our hair is like battery more stressed it is faster it will discharge. Having me time, doing yoga and exercise, having fun, involving in recreation activities, spending time in nature etc. can help to reduce stress.

2. Heat

Excessive heat in any form damages the hair. Frequent use of blowdryer, hot rods, hot water bath and excessive exposure to sun can contribute to damage your hair. You can limit the use of hot rods and blow dryer. Hot water should not be put on head. Use cap or hat while going out in sun. These can protect your hair.


3. DHT

DHT is known as Dihydrotestosterone which is made from testosterone. It is a main cause of hair fall in men. This is why bodybuilders who use steroid loose hair. DHT decreases in the lifespan of hair, thins it and finally chokes it out. You can add simple DHT blocking food like methi, carrots, bananas, almonds, mushroom etc. in your diet.


4. Lack of nutrition

It is also common problem of modern life. Many people ditch homemade food and consumed junk and fast food instead which maybe tasty but has no nutrition in it. Our hair is made up of proteins. So there should be a adequate protein in our diet. Other than protein, healthy fats, vitamins and iron are also important. Overall balance diet is needed.


5. Too many harsh chemicals

Many hair wax, gels, sprays, shampoos and oils are loaded with harsh chemicals. Check for sulphates, parabens, artificial colour, fragrance, mineral oil, TBHQ, LLP and EDTA in the ingredient list of product and if you find any one of this just avoid it.

1. Proper blood supply on scalp

Blood carry nutrients and oxygen in scalp. So if there isn't adequate blood supply in scalp no matter how nutritious food you eat you will have hairfall. 

Balayam or rubbing nails can improve blood supply in a scalp. This is because the nerves beneath nails is directly connected to a scalp. But you should avoid it after meal.

Exercising daily also improves blood supply not only in scalp but in overall body. Some yoga poses like handstand, headstand, inverted frog pose etc. also improve blood supply on scalp region.


2. Body massage

Body massage is also very effective for hair health and overall. Take care the direction of massage should be toward your Heart. I mean when you massage neck massage it in downward direction whereas hands and legs should be massaged in upward direction. Do not combine head and body massage.

Nowadays, many youngster try to avoid oiling which should not be done. Oil for hair is same like water for plants. You can massage your head with oil about 2 to 4 times a week before going to bed and wash it on next morning. Massaging your head with warm oil in circular motion instantly improve blood circulation. Be careful to choose oil. Don't use chemical hair oil. You can use cold pressed coconut, mustard, sesame, bingaraj etc. oil as your choice.


4. Lifestyle

Some simple lifestyle change can contribute a lot in your good hair health.

  • Don't Shampoo regularly 2 to 3 times a week is enough.
  • Don't skip conditioner as it locks the moisture in your hair.
  • Comb your hair after drying not only for styling but it also improves blood circulation.
  • Do not tie your hair too tightly.
  • Avoid pollution.

5. Use DIYs hair mask

Today Internet is filled with DIYs hair pack making method. Choose wisely according to your hair type. Do not forget to do patch test before applying. You can use DIYs to based on aloe vera, coconut oil, bhringraj, shikakai, onion juice etc. These provide nourishment to your hair.
